From the previous versions, we have learned that some users are still confused about the differences between “System Folder” and “System”. The following pictures illustrate how they look and where they are located:
The “System Folder” is a “folder” that contains all of your system software, and it is located in your startup hard disk.
The “System” is a “file” that looks like a suitcase, and it is located inside the “System Folder”. In addition, the “Finder” file is also located in the “System Folder”.
Please make sure you understand the differences between “System Folder” and “System” before you follow the instructions in the “User's Guide” text file. The copy you are going to make and modify is the “System”, not “System Folder”.
In previous versions, if users don't understand the differences between “System Folder” and “System”, it'll damage your system software. In order to avoid this accident, we change the way we used to make copies of the “System” and “Finder” files:
1. Hold down the “Shift” key, click both “System” and “Finder” files.
2. Select “Duplicate” from Finder's “File” menu.
3. The copies of both files will appear on the bottom right of original files with suffix “copy”.
4. Drag “System copy” and “Finder copy” into “7Tuner 1.7 Folder (as shown below). The Finder may copy the files if “7Tuner 1.7 Folder” is in the different volume.
5. Now you are ready to run 7Tuner 1.7 (Some steps that are described here may be repeated in “User's Guide”).
If you have used previous versions of 7Tuner, or if you prefer to use Option-drag method to make copies of “System” and “Finder”, you don't have to change your way. Inside “7Tuner 1.7 Folder”, there is an application named [“copy“ Adder] which will rename the file names for you if you use the Option-drag method to make copies of “System” and “Finder”. This application is useful, since the names of copied files are locked if you use Option-drag method:
1. We assume that you have finished the Option-drag process, and the copies of “System” and “Finder” are inside “7Tuner 1.7 Folder” now.
2. Double-click the application named [“Copy” Adder].
3. Choose the rename options by clicking System, Finder, or both files.
4. Select the file that needs to be renamed.
5. After the rename process, both copies of “System” and “Finder” will now have the suffix “copy”.
6. Now you are ready to run 7Tuner 1.7 (Some steps that are described here may be repeated in “User's Guide”).
Now you are ready to run 7Tuner 1.7 to fine tune your System and Finder.
